Privacy, in plain language
Your game. Your data. Your choices.
What Letterbolt collects, why we use it, when it is shared, how long it is kept, and how to remove it.
Last updated 14 August 2026What we collect
- Device installation identifier. Generated on your device on first launch so your progress and leaderboard entries can be attributed without an account. Every install has one before you ever sign in.
- Sign-in identity, if you sign in. Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android) returns a stable identifier for your account. We never receive your password, and we do not require your email address.
- Username, if you choose one. A public display name you pick; it is screened by an automated moderation step before it appears to other players.
- Gameplay data. Scores, words found, streaks, daily and casual results, and challenges you create or join. Ranked results are re-validated on our servers.
- Purchases. If you buy Remove Ads, the store returns a transaction identifier we verify and store to grant the entitlement. We never see your card or payment details.
- Notification token, if you allow notifications. An Expo push token for your device, used to send streak reminders, challenge updates, and leaderboard-movement alerts. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings.
- Diagnostics. Sanitised app events, errors, and request timings used to fix bugs and operate the service. Known sensitive patterns are redacted on the device and again on the server.
- Advertising data. Google Mobile Ads may automatically process your IP address (which can estimate general location), device or app identifiers, ad interactions, app interactions, and SDK diagnostic/performance information for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention.
Advertising
Free play is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. The current app asks AdMob for non-personalised ads. Where required, Google's consent form is shown before ads can be requested, and the Profile screen provides an Ad privacy choices entry point. AdMob may still use identifiers and the other advertising data described above for delivery, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention.
Rewarded ads are verified on our servers, so a reward is granted only for an ad actually watched. If you buy Remove Ads, interstitial ads stop; optional rewarded ads remain available.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share only what each service needs to function. These providers process data under their own published policies:
- Apple — iOS sign-in and in-app purchase verification.
- Google — Android sign-in and purchase verification, plus AdMob ad delivery, measurement, analytics, consent handling, and reward verification.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications you have opted into.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, photos, or microphone input. AdMob may infer general location from an IP address as described above. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves, and we do not sell personal data.
Retention and deletion
If you sign in, you can delete your account and associated profile, identity, gameplay, challenge, notification, and device data from Profile; deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. A guest can use Delete guest data in Profile to remove that installation and its progress.
Verified store purchase records may be retained without account or installation identifiers where needed for transaction integrity, fraud prevention, refunds, and legal or accounting obligations. Diagnostic logs rotate and are retained only as long as needed to investigate and operate the service. If you cannot access the app, use the deletion instructions on the support page or email us.
Children
Letterbolt is a general-audience word game and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes & contact
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its effective date. For questions, consent withdrawals, or data requests, email hello@kingsleyabia.dev.
